The night before Christ was crucified, He prayed these words;
"I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me."
Jesus was praying for us. He had just finished praying for His disciples and then moved to those who would believe on Him through their word... that's us.
It is significant that one of the last prayers Jesus prayed on earth was for the unity of all believers.
Like Christ, our plea is for all believers to go back to Bible and just be Christians... nothing more, nothing less, nothing else. Denominationalism and the doctrines of men have divided the body of Christ so profoundly that the world can't see Christ in the thousands of various churches and belief systems.
The First Century Church was just one church. They were Christians and only Christians. That is our plea: to set aside the dogmas, doctrines, and commandments of men and go back to the Bible alone. To be just Christians.
